Edward Ryan ’57

Edward Ryan attended and played football for Leo High School from 1953-1957. During that time Leo won the City Championship, All City, All State, MVP Tom McCann Award, Noble E. Kaiser Award MVP, H.S. All American (New World, etc.), Freshmen FB Notre Dame (57), Michigan State (58), Varsity FB at MSV 1959-1962 (Capt. 1961), Several MVP Team Awards, Most Exciting-Most Valuable Big Ten Medal of Honor, 1960-61 Academic All American, 1962 Kodak All American-Played in Blue/Grey Game (Black and Blue Capt), 1962 Senior Bowl (Capt. North), 1962 Played All American Game (Kodak NY Capt. East Team), Ryan was drafted as a Junior (1960) Chicago Bear, Dallas Texans (KC Chiefs) Toronto Argos (signed with them). In 1962 played one year and was traded to Ottawa Rough Riders, played and was injured. At MSU Class Officer (’62 Club) also Excalibur (Seniormen’s Honorary Fratenity – 10 Most MVP Male Students on Campus). Ryan worked for GMC (Olds Division), Clark Equipment Co. (bought Tyler Division from Clark-VP Board of Directors and Owner).
