The Alumni Association was recently notified of the passing on March 20, 2019, of John M. “Jack” Hession of the class of 1955. Jack grew up in the Little Flower Parish on Chicago’s southwest side, he was a first generation Irish immigrant who grew up a patriotic American. His post World War II childhood and teen years were spent in a typical fashion, playing sports, hanging out with neighborhood friends, and visiting family. Jack’s fondness for his Little Flower friends never wavered. He was very proud of his Irish heritage, and maintained the connection with his family in County Galway throughout his life, and encouraged the same for his children and grandchildren.

Jack was proud to represent the Lions on the basketball court during his time at Leo. After high school he went on to Loras College in DuBuque, Iowa. During his time there he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Moran. After college, Jack went on to serve in the U.S. Navy before settling down with Mary Ann in St. Denis Parish in Chicago to raise their family.

Jack is survived by his brother, William Hession, his children, John, Jennifer, Colleen and Kathleen, and his grandchildren, Emily, Trevor, Samantha and Sydney.
