The Leo Alumni join in mourning the passing of the oldest Alumni, Michael Urban McDermott, Class of ’32. Mr. McDermott supported the Alumni Association throughout the years, even serving as Association President. Our prayers and condolences are with Michael McDermott, and his family. Obituary follows:
McDermott, Michael Urban Age 101, at peace on October 8, 2015 at Marco Island, FL, formerly of the Beverly Area. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy M. (nee Kelly); loving father of Michael C., Jomo, Joanmarie (Wayne) Scott, Daniel J., Ellen Terese (the late Kevin) Miller, Rosemary (Terence) Strommer, and Martin J. (Laura) McDermott; dear grandpa of Hannah, Toby, Janessa, Lauren, Christopher, Michelle, Alex, Elizabeth and Claudia; proud great-grandpa of triplets, Charles, John, and Margaret; Caleb and Henry. Preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Graduate of Leo H.S. Class of 1932, Past President of Leo H.S. Alumni. Founding owner of M and D Provision Co. at Chicago Stockyards, #1 Notre Dame fan and avid golfer and handball player. Visitation Sunday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Curley Funeral Home (Heeney-Laughlin Directors), 6116 W. 111th St., Chicago Ridge, IL 60415. Family and friends will meet directly at Christ the King Church, 9235 S. Hamilton Ave., Chicago, IL 60643 on Monday for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
