August 19th was the first full day of classes for all students attending Leo High School. Thirty some alumni, joined with teachers and staff in standing on the steps of the school, welcoming their students to the new school year.
The students were greeted with hand shakes, applause, cheers, and news crews, as well as more than an occasional singing of the school fight song.
Shaka Rawls and Dan McGrath have goals. These goals include keeping Leo a safe zone for their students and again achieve a 100% graduation rate.
After the students had entered the school, a short prayer was offered, and Mr. Rawls addressed his students. “I’m going to make this short, because you all have class,” he said. “I’m going to go hard on you this year, your teachers are going to go hard on you, if you think last year was tough, wait”. With that said, the students went off to class and another year has started for Leo High School.
It was a moving event. See photo link to see more. Photo link Greeting Students
