As many of you may know Tom “Hops” Hopkins was a proud Leo Lion from the Class of ’73. Tom was a proud supporter of youth athletics, both grade school and high school, and a determined fighter of cancer. Tom “Papa Hops” Hopkins truly loved life, living each day to the fullest, always inspiring his family and friends to do the same.
The Tom Hopkins Foundation was started by Tom’s children after his early passing from cancer and strives to keep Papa Hops’ spirit alive by providing support to local youth athletics and assisting local families who have been affected by cancer. They wanted to keep their father’s spirit alive by hosting a softball tournament at Kennedy Park on a Friday night in the summer. Over the past 5 years, the foundation has raised thousands to support local families affected by cancer. A portion of the proceeds is also shared with ten Catholic grade schools. The funds are given to the schools’ athletic departments in support of youth athletics.
Due to the COVID-19 challenges the tournament was cancelled this summer. This is the primary fund raiser for the Tom Hopkins Foundation.
For the 2020 year the Foundation is hosting the PAPA HOPS RAFFLE to be held on October 10th.
The Papa Hops team is in the final stretch to sell out the raffle. Your support in honoring Hops and this great cause is greatly appreciated.
